Close up of the label. I couldn't find any inspection stamps.

Hi Luc, I would agree; this smock once had a zip. Thanks for taking the pics for us

What I would like to see is one made without a zip and a British label and WD stamps.

Cheers, Ade.

Here is my good friend Peter Block from the Indep. Parachute Platoon (Peter fought in Italy, Greece and the South of France.) As you can see, he has replaced the broken zip with buttons. He could not recall doing this when I asked him about it.

Cheers, Ade.

I have played around with the photo to make it clearer

Hi Andrew

I took some pics of the label in my zipper smock (size.8) so if you want I can email them to you. I can't post pics in the forum myself.
Size 8 was same height as Size 7, but different widht 42ins to 44ins

I'm surpirsed to see a 1943 date on a 2nd pattern smock; I thought they were first made in 1944. Anyone else has seen labels of pre-1944 dated 2nd pattern smocks?

Cheers, Luc

Hi Andy,

you are absolutely right, although you will find the odd later smock (early fifties) still with button cuffs. They are the exception though.

I would like to see closer pictures of the closure of this smock before i am convinced it isn't a conversion.

Yours, Guy.

Give me your email and I'll send some closeups of the experimental-smock.
