Default Patronenkasten 41 with extra rivet

Maybe I never paid attention but I noticed it now. I have one steel box with extra rivet in the middle of top cover. Do You, good people, have any idea what is the purpose of this rivet?

It looks like that. Whole inside painted only with red primer.

I have found picture of another Patronenkasten with extra rivet. It is also 1942 dated and dark green. The purpose of the rivet remain unknown.

One box produced by brc and the other by bsj...so not a maker's variation. Curious that both were produced in 1942. I thought early PK41 were painted blue, till 1943...

One mystery not solved and here comes another one. 30+ years in this hobby and still some things " I have never seen before". I have found ammo box - Patronenkasten with pressed spots on the corners. Sorry, no way to add pictures.
