Default 736th Tank Battalion Patch

The 736th Tank Battalion was activated on February 1, 1943, at Camp Rucker, Alabama.

It was organized as a special battalion and equipped with top secret CDL spotlight tanks.

The battalion arrived in England on April 1, 1944, and landed on Utah Beach in August.

It was reorganized as a standard tank battalion in November 1944, and attached to the 94th Infantry division in the St. Nazaire-Lorient sector where one company was equipped with special DD (amphibious) tanks for crossing the Rhine River.

The 736th moved to the front on January 26, 1945, and joined in the attack on Kesternick, Germany, reaching the Rhine River in March 1945, with the 83rd Infantry Division. The units DD tanks supporting the Rhine crossing.

The 736th reached the Elbe River on April 13th and contacted Soviet troops on May 4th.

Very nice, pretty rare to have a factory embroidered BN level patch.
Thanks for posting

Au contraire, this is the most common form for this battalion, and most WW 2 separate tank battalions. It's those with numbers added to plain armored force patches that are less common. There are a couple of battalion exceptions.....
