Default NSKK for Review

Here is a nice NSKK by Emil Voos with an S Sud (Munich)
on the rear lower crossguard.
It appears the grip may have been painted black and at some point in time the color removed; other than that the dagger hasn't been cleaned.
The hanger is marked RZM M5/71 Overhoff & Cie Ludenscherd.
The leather is black in color and a little dry.

That is a weird SA group stamp. Usually it is rotated by 90 degrees.

S denotes the SA group „Schlesien“ (Silesia)

I agree the group stamp is weird on its side. Being NSKK I believe the S
represents group Sud (Munich) rather than Schlesien.
Any thoughts on the grip? To me its looks as if it was black at one time.

Some of the handles on the NSKK were painted black, at one point they changed the scabbard color from brown to black, from what I understand the order was not clear and some painted the grip instead of the scabbard.

It is correct that there was a Motorobergruppe „Süd“ (South) and some more named according to cardinal points.

However, on the NSKK dagger the stamps denoted the Motorgruppen, not the Motorobergruppen.

Therefore the S stands for Schlesien (Silesia).
