also the satouche is very faded but still is a vibrant pink at its root, telling me its been there forever

lastly, the staining ,according to my wife is probably iodine used as an antiseptic for head wound. You can see where its on the white area of the piping in a few places, but you dont see it under any of insignia so I have no issue with that either. Id have no issue with anything on this piece whether it belonged to me or someone else:

Heres what I ask myself:

Is the cap real?
Is the insignia real?
Is the source reliable/story make sense?

So thjis cap is wonderful addition to my collection. Probably best score in past 5 years. Also, Pieter, Im glad you like the cap! They all seem to be getting along & playing wwell with each other...

awesome! this is one of those "in hand" moments ! Once you touch it it almost transports you back on the field...its an awesome piece....Wish it could have made it into the Beaver book on SS headgear....so buy up! Maybe it can get into the 2nd repress!

IF only theyd reproduce!!!!!!!!! Like as a child you put 3 or four male bunnies in a cage & next day you learn you need to study a rabbits anatomy a bit closer! lol then a few wks later you are up to your ankles in those brown pellets all over the house. Imagiine if each pellet stood for 1 tk! ahhhh Im dozing off.....
