Thanks Greg!

It took me a while to find a set like this for a decent price. Then I found this one and secured it into my collection

Let's hope you will soon be able to find one for your collection Greg.

I am still wondering why you would never find an EK in the 1990's with its Umkarton.
I can't remember any "old" auction catalogue offering one.

But this is just my humble opinion and I don't mean the very items just shown in this thread and would of course be pleased to be corrected.

This thread with "Umkarton" in the title is just a good occasion to ask.

Regards
Gilles

I recall seeing a video of when the Kaiser was handing out EK1's in their umkartons in 1917, can't recall where I saw the video. Was probably in one of the hundreds documentaries I have seen.

Anyways the umkartons are quite rare as most recipients threw them away. I can't answer the question why you haven't seen any umkartons in the old catalouge days, but for certain that when internet came to use pictures and information started to spread faster.

Anyways I've seen these umkartons come directly from families that my dealer friend has told and showed.

The umkartons are considered original.

Like to show my umkarton and Case with EKI (We). On the red seal the letters "KGL. Preuss. Generalordenskom ". Nice extra is the date on the Umkarton. Recently I find a interesting seal mark from "Königlich Preussische general ordens commission"
