Default Iodine Bottle

Please find attached photos of my Iodine Bottle, made of Bakelite. It is still 3/4 full. Took a little courage to open the lid and smell the contents, but once I realised that it was only Iodine I was relieved.
The date on the base is 1941.
Question; Was this Army issue?
Regards Helene

I believe its not for Iodine but Waffenentgiftungsmittel - substance for cleaning guns after gas attack. Its pure military issue.

Yep, not iodine at all. As mentioned, it is a chemical to clean weapons after chemical attack. It is something similar to bleach, so be careful or it might damage other items around if it leaks.
