Default Prewar M31 SS-VT Messkit.

I think this RZM M31 Messkit is quiet rare and worth a post and probably some informations. It’s a nice pre war M31 messkit in worn condition and marked RZM M6/2/39. This model is clearly a military model as it wears some multi layers of camouflage green paint. It is name to private “Vatter” and this guy had to write it again on each layer. Can it be identified as an early war SS combat messkit? I had some pictures that show Allgemeine-SS with M1910 black messkit. It seems that in 1939 the messkit became shorter for the need of the troops ?… Thanks for infos.

Hello, I reactivate this post with this new find, as there is still some confusion about the RZM messkits even the regulations are quiet clear:

M1910 & M31 messkits were used by all the paramilitary formations (HJ, SA, NSKK, DAF, PL, etc ...) during all the war period. The "Allgemeine SS" also used these two models but with specific markings in "RZM / SS" or "VA / SS".
The colors of the messkits are very variable depending on the year of production and the manufacturer. There are various shades of "olive green" through the "Feldgrau".

However, the color has an "attribution" depending on the paramilitary units.
The "Sturmabteilung", the "NSKK" as well as the "Allgemeine SS" had to use (according to the regulations) tin Messkits "Matt schwarz lackiert".
While the "Hitlerjugend" and other "Politische Leiter" used Messkits of hues "Grau".

This new example I just acquire is another dated 1939 one and will not help to clarify this post as it was clearly used by a Wehrmacht Heer Hauptmann; but was certainly not issued to the Wehrmacht (?), maybe in 1939 (?). This Hauptmann O. Bulh was maybe a former HJ or just a sympathizer!?

Question: SS messkit had specific markings throughout the war or just at the beginning as it seems that they used also standard Army messkits as well?

Thanks for your interest and help.
