Unknown to me, but I can tell you that it was manufactured in the proximity of Stettin, presumably Altdamm or Scheune.

Default RBnr on Öl kanister

Hi Friends Collectors

Do you have some informations about the RBnr on this 10 ltr Öl kanister ?

The manufacturer mark is the same as this K2 oilcan.

Thanks for your answer.

That is not a third reich era RBN #. The 2 numbers in front of the "/" is not something you see on items made during WW2.

Although I do not have this particular RBNr in my records, I am aware of legit RBNr's that feature a two-digit prefix. I have even seen three-digit prefixes, but most collectors are generally unaware of these, as most of the factories that used these produced non-military items. Common companies with such prefixes were insurance agencies and such, and even hotel groups sometimes had a RBNr with a two-digit prefix.

Per example:
62/0496/0814 was the RBNr used by factory of Kurt A. Uebel, who manufactured cotton bags and distributed all other sorts of bags. Although non-military, there is no doubt that this is a WWII-era Reichsbetriebnummer.

However, I must say that I am not familiar with the "1417" location code, and I am not too keen of the overal look of the markings either.

Best Regards,
Vincent S.

Bonjour Stephane,
Your Oilcan is an early DDR Product. The triangle Logo with Number "1" is typical. Made approximately in the 1950´s...

Best Regards

Andy

Hi Friends Collectors

Thanks for your answers and informations.
Just one comment, I'm surprise that the communist administration of DDR use a Nazi code after the war. There is the word Reich in the RBnr...

Regards from France.

62/265/005 = Hermann Forester Sack- u. Planenfababrik OHG, one of the firms which produced or supplied the cotton duck/ canvas used as the base material to manufacture Zeltbahns for the SS. This code number sometimes appeared on the rolls/ bolts of cloth before the were rolled or printed with the camo patterns. In other words this was one of the suppliers of the cloth that was used by the factories which made the Zelts.

They did not use the RB or RF prefix in front of their code just "62/265/005" on its own. This is often the case when one sees RB/RF type code numbers on an SS item. Such codes are not seen on SS items very often if at all. The question still remains if these codes are used by SS owned/ control suppliers or those outside of the SS system but contracted to make up short-falls in SS logistics.

Two digit prefixes are uncommon but they do sometimes turn up on military items in rare cases,

Chris

0/0764/0020 - Rieker & Co. - Tuttlingen (Württ.) - Bahnhosstrase 54 - Schutfabrk; Marken: Rieker, Hellfus, Jungdeutschl.

0/1032/0001 - I only can tell you that is an Ostmark maker, probably from Obermühl

Eduardo,

Thanks for your input.

I don't seem to find the city of 'Zeltz' in Sachsen, but rather a 'Zeitz' ??

There's however a 'Seltz' in Vorpommern.

Could make sence as there are stamps inside of a DRK unit of " Waren an der Müritz" , which is in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern!

What do you think?

Regards
Jan

Jan, you are right is Zeitz, all makers that I can find in the list with 0355 code are from same place, but copies are not very clear, but is clear the reference to Sachsen, most codes 03XX are from Sachsen area.
