Default Thoughts on ebay buckles

Hello all,

I noticed a couple of buckles on ebay and would like more opinions. They seem alright to me. A forum member has questioned the authenticity due to current pricses being fetched. I have no such reservations but would like other opinions. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

*Disclaimer...I have no knowledge of the seller. Just soliciting opinions.

Hi Jack,

Price is suspiscious but hey, thats up to the seller.

Looking at the buckle,

Does look ok but the pristine condition for an almost 100 year old item is
a bit suspicious.Perhaps original but re-finished postwar.(perhaps)
I would expect some patina even if stored in ideal conditions.

Stanping looks a bit soft but i am playing the Devils advocate here.

Too be honest any militaria on ebay that is questionable for any reason is best avoided.

Hi,

Thanks for the opinion. In my opinion the buckles look okay. I contacted the seller for more information about some of his items. He says he is/was a member here. He claims to have gotten these buckles from a website called germanwarbooty.com. I went over and had a look and found these:

http://www.germanwarbooty.com/item-b...es%20b1076.htm

I don't know. Looks like the same buckles to me but I could be wrong. I would say it's legit but I would defer to others who have more experience than I do. Either way current price is very attractive and I will see where it goes. Other opinions are welcome.

Thanks,
Jack

I dont know much about these Prussian buckles - but I must say IF they ARE fakes, they're pretty darn good ones...

That being said - I think if they stay at a low bid (less than $20) it might be worth a small risks... reiterating what has already been said - the minty'ness of them is something to be concerned about - but that does look like original packing materia (well for WW2 buckles anyways - not sure if it was used in this time also!) which is a good sign.

Bid cautiously - do some more research and see what happens.

So he paid $95.00 each and is taking a risk of selling at $5? Is there a reserve? Doesn't make much sense to me. Also there is no hold/update on the buckles on warbooty... If all works out you might snag a couple good ones for cheap - BUT as always with eBay be cautious!

Noticed some funny things with this auction. The original poster here in the buckles section.. 8 posts, writing of this exact auction,( along with the fake pennant in the flags section) is from the same Canadian provence( after looking at all bidders from past auctions, seems he comes up on his auctions quite often.
I called this a shill posting, along with the pennant one, to drum up business to this fake militaria E bay posting.

Bravo. You were able to deduce that I live in MB. The very same province (notice the spelling) as the seller. As the population of MB is jusy over a million people then we MUST know each other.

As a natter of fact I live in a failry remote nothern town and have only been to Winnipeg twice in my life. Bioth times when I was a kid, I suppose we must have forged a frindship 30+ years ago and now I'm shilling for him.

I started this thread because YOU were questioning ALL of the items listed. I thought these buckles were good and wanted to illustrate to you that your blanket statement that all of his stuff was crap was wrong.

If I were shilling then why wouldn`t I list all of his auctions? I initially only listed the one that I had a question on. I was unsure of originality so I came on and asked opinions. I got a few but I also got treated very poorly by yourself for asking. Sorry for wasting your time oh high and mighty one! I did not realize that your time was so valuable and I was wasting it. You must have been spending all of your time getting your 5 "Likes" on Faceboook. That seems to have been a difficult task. I'd imagine with your attitude it truly must have been taxing.

Anyway....because of one asshole (you!) I am gone. I was hoping to stay on and learn but you have soured me on this place. Here's hoping we can meet in person one day ao I can tell you all of this to your face. Inlike you I am not a "keyboard assasin" and will tell you straight up to your face how I feel about you. If you'd like my phone # to discuss in person the just ask.

Adios
