Default Prinzen-sized 1914 EK 1

I got this decades ago from an Imperial-only militaria dealer. It’s a TR-style Prinzen-sized 1914 EK 1. The non-iron core is thickly painted. The hinge is similar to those on Wiedmann 1939 EKs 1 or “Round 3” 1939 EKs 1 by Deschler. I never quite knew what to make of it. Opinions?

Nice cross, Greg!
Is there a time frame for when these were manufactured?

I am not 100% but I believe that these were from the 1920s.
