Sorry, but I think you've been royally scr*wed.

The core and frame do not match genuine KMSTs.

The KMST and DRGM markings are on the correct sides but they are way to crisp, too high relief as well, also wrong font and no "." where they should be, plus they are rotated 180deg from originals.

Looks like a new high end fake but easy to pick is you know what to look for.

Regards
Mike

PS: I did not mean to be harsh to you personally tpies - I hope you can return it!

I totally agree, indeed it looks like a new high end fake.

All KMST crosses also have IMO their own typical core (crown).

Compare it yourself:

Mike is right. This is a fake I've been seeing these on ebay for about two
years now. The cores all copy the Godet style core. They are good but if
you look closely, they are not quite right. The frames are all wrong for
the cores. The faker trys to copy the correct style hardware on the
reverse but again it's close but not a perfect match. He has also done
crosses marked AWS, W-S, Godet and J Wagner.

It starts, high end fakes... makes me wonder.
One talented guy with no income trying to make a living by creating one offs..

Anyway this cross sucks, but is still recognizable as a fake. He could also have used the KM(st) core from an ek2.. things would be harder. Just a matter of time.. or is it?

No it came off the off the invaluable.com auction site. I thought this one was good for sure. Certainly a little more attention to detail than the normal fakes to include the little keeper. It's a lesson I guess. Should have posted the picture and asked before bidding I guess.

There are a lot of exotic 1914 EK1 on German eBay that are high end fakes most using original cores and fake frames and mostly screwback attachment.
