Default Saxon Regiment 108 Tradition Badge

I've had this in the bottom of a drawer for a few decades. Is it best described as a post-WWI tradition badge? Appears to be made of a soft metal like aluminum and the details are etched by hand. Measures approximately 47 mm x 49 mm.

The regiment has had a long existence, so it could just as easily be a veteran's piece from before the war.
