Good one

Digits are exactly the same as on my dog tags from this unit.

Why no blood type? Looks aluminum, not steel. Sturm Rgt.

This is stainless steel without any doubt. The majority of FJ dog tags are without blood type. By the way, aluminum was typical for early FJ dog tags, stainless steel and zinc for late war.

Really? Most all of mine, both zinc and aluminum, have blood type on them. Some tetanus as well.

Hi
3rd Fjd was in Brittany around Brest untill 6 june 44...
The unit was still in training and formation...they still "stamped" new dog tag for "new paratrooper"Shortly after the invasion (on the day after the invasion) first units started to move to normandy, as they don't have enough vehicles (some units go by foots to normandy!) they took only what was necessary, all was buried or burn . Some of the FJ still have their "old" dog tag of their former LW unit, some had new 3rd fjd unit stamped...most of coded Erkm of 3rd fjd never had blood type stamped, maybe all..lack of time?

Yes indeed Herlé.

IMHO it is factually incorrect to claim most Fj IDs did not have blood type. To claim many or most late war IDs were without, yes. But not most throughout the entire war.

Hi John,
strangely , many coded ErKm have no blood type....why?
here is a picture of 6 ErKm of FJ soldiers from Brest all are 100% "sure"
Only 2 had the blood type.... early Erkm had blood type? but when and why they stopped to put the blood type?

I have made a static of my dog tags from early war time (original for sure):
Total 21:
- with blood group --- 7,
- with blood group + T --- 5

I enclose a few photos (the same unit, the same time) - one with blood group, one without.

Thanks Herlé!

Fox Terier, do you know the veteran? Number 7 would be important. Very fine group! 13. Kp. Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 3
