NCO 241 Prussian Field Artillery Regiment M07 fieldgrey uniform. Well executed painting. Personally I would prefer a less ostentatious, more period and befitting simpler frame - we are not looking at a 17th century nobleman but a WWI NCO. Not a criticism of the painting which I quite like.

Stunning painting, the details are superb!
I especially like the cap he's wearing.

If you ever decide to let it go, please get in touch.

Depending on the size of the painting the frame is appropriate. To think the structure has anything to do with nobility is ludicrous, it appears to be common for the period into the early 1950s'. I have similar frames for paintings in my possession.

As far as the painting goes, it is exceptional.

Sure ludicrous. I guess it is hard for some to distinguish what makes something kitsch and what not.

Very nice painting and frame. What I find most interesting is the saber. This appears to be a very seldom seen made for export "troopers saber". It is known that stocks of this pattern saber were accepted and issued to German artillery units (and possibly other types of mounted troops) after the start of WWI. The saber itself is sort of a hybrid of the KD89 and the standard Artillery saber.......very very few that I know of can be found in photographs much less paintings!

Great man cave Dan! I have been getting into Dunkelblau as a distraction from my primary collecting interests.
