Murdock, Corvais & Stone were early suppliers to the reenacting scene back in the 1980's.

The second cap is very convincing IMO but I agree that it is also a reproduction. Probably 8 or 9 out of 10 of these style caps that I have encounterd since maybe the 90s have been reproductions. Real ones are not common. Really decent copies of many types of Imperial German headwear have been made in the U.K. and elsewhere since the 1960s so it is now 50 years old. As stated these may be more recent.

I see nothing wrong with the second cap. I think the two thumbs down after the second cap photos were actually directed at the first cap.

Hopefully it is original. I could believe that one. The interior work and material look perfect and the cockades are original with perfect looking thread.

Thanks for the link. This restores my sanity somewhat in judging Imperial feldgrau. Some of the fakes are very good but I generally feel confident when I can see it in person as to good or bad. I agree this one is good and I apologize for any doubts my first post on this one may have have cast. Again I will say that examples like this are very hard to find now....
