A truly great helmet Rob, Congratulations!

No offense intended to you Rob, I simply wish that I had a job where I could troll eBay all afternoon looking for the freshly appearing "buy-it-now" bargains on eBay. That's where Chuck also found his beautiful Wurttemburg helmet. There's been an unprecedented amount of some unbelievable bargains lately on eBay with these buy-it-now's from sellers who don't know what they have. Not sure if the sellers were desperate for money, or what their deal was in not using the regular auction format.

I am truly happy for you Rob, and congratulate you for being able to buy this great helmet for the unbelievable price that you did.

Best Regards,

Alan

Thanks Alan .Yes with ebay its all about lucky timing but you do literally have milliseconds to make a decision so your due diligence has to be very swift indeed . I remember looking at a British gallantry award that came up BIN and I could not believe the low price as I was looking at the photos trying to work out what was wrong with it I thought **** just buy it but I was beaten to it by a milisecond. However this was not that cheap I guess at $500 he thought the price was good for him if he paid $50 at an estate sale. Nowadays we all have computers and iphones and if you know the keys to ebay sucess then its better than getting $7 an hour at Home depot . Rob

A very nice catch Rob. I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't have time sit on my ass trolling ebay for hours on end. Right place at the right time, and am very happy.

No Chuck, sorry, I was not implying you sit around and troll eBay all day long.

I said, quote: "I simply wish that I had a job where I could troll eBay all afternoon looking for the freshly appearing "buy-it-now" bargains on eBay." end of quote

My continued point is that I'm constantly amazed at how many sellers are willing to do "buy-it-nows" at bargain basement prices for spike helmets on eBay, such as this one, Chuck's Wurttemburg metal helmet w/cover, Rob's metal kit helmet last year, a beautiful felt helmet this past month, and the list goes on and on. The magic is being that lucky person to see the helmet first appear "live" some 5 to 6 yours after the seller has hit the "list" button.

The most amazing one I've seen was an enlisted Hessian 115th Lieb-Garde Reg't helmet that the seller from a pawn shop in Eastern Wisconsin let go for a mere 1K back in the spring of 2015, when it's worth between 2.5K and 3K. I saved pictures of it, and still look at the photos from time to time.

Best Regards,

Alan

There's also the APB group the KVK Knights cross to name but a few . People have no idea to them its old crap , $150 for an old medal is better than zero it means I can go get a new pair of Nikes, $500 for that old spike helmet yeah i will take that I can get a new Hi Fi system . 99% of the US public have zero interest in old crap and long may it continue !
