Not exactly a “Field gear” item but certainly a piece of equipment that the soldier needed! Thought I’d share my latest purchase, a beautiful DH German Service Watch made by Helvetia. If anyone else shares my interest in german Service Watches I would love to see what you have to share!

I have a buddy who specially deals with DH watches, real artisan, 3rd generation watchmaker who sold me this beauty. Would you like me to refer you to him? I have no doubt he can service your watch to the best it can possibly be.

Default German watch

I've had this for over 20 years and have always wondered if it is WWII period. The engraving on the back shows an arrow pointing to the right with the copy "BODEN EDELSTAHL' beneath it.

Any information would be appreciated.

Hmm, I’ve never seen this maker before but it meets all the WWII Wehrmacht service criteria. Luminescent Numbers, second dial replacing the 6, looks like a waterproof case back. If it’s not WWII it’s early post-war 1946-50. A beautiful watch none the less and I would bet it’s a civilian or private purchase for a officer, but no “issuing” numbers

Here’s a better pic of mine, changed the straps for more “period correct” looking ones

Do you know what year yours was made? So far I haven’t found a way to judge years just by the serial number
