Default Dutch M27 Helmet, VMP, British Occupation?

Here is an oddity to me, recently found in the Braunschweig area of Germany. The liner appears to have been in nice condition but was cut out for some reason The same red paint has been used to write the letters VMP to the side, the number 153 to the rear and the owners name to the inside. tThe British flag insignia i would say is thin paper glued to the side. Im of the opinion that perhaps this might of been some sort of Police issued helmet in late 45 or 46, its a guess so any help from fellow members would be great
p.s. To our Dutch members, perhaps in my title ''occupation'' is the wrong term but im sure you know what i mean!!

It's an M34. Paint looks pre-1940 light olive green to me, I wouldn't say this helmet was certainly post war reissued. No idea what VMP means. As for the British flag, I'd say some dude in the past just glued that to the helmet. I really like these lids, hope someone more knowledgeable chimes in.

Cheers

I also believe somebody decorated it with a UK flag....If period done perhaps in celebration of the liberation? so possibly used by the resistance?

Indeed Nick, flag decoration could have been put on period to the VMP painted letters or yesterday just do not wish to remove until i can find out if Dutch military police worked with the Brits at the end of the war
