Default Alkett VsKfz 617 Minenräumer

The first prototype of Minenräumer with designation VsKfz 617, was completed in 1942 by Alkett. Designed to detonate mines by simply rolling over them and thus clearing a safe path. The vehicle’s commander was on the right, operating the turret. The driver was on the left side of the vehicle and saw out via a small slit in the upper armor. The 720 liters fuel tank was positioned above the rear wheel. Much information on this vehicle has been lost and reliable information is difficult to find. One example with chassis number of 9537 was captured in April 1945 at Kummersdorf by Soviet troops and is now located at Kubinka in Russia.

Designers and Manufacturers:
Alkett, Berlin-Borsigwalde
Krupp A. G., Essen
Daimler-Benz

Length: 6.5 Meters
Width: 3.2 Meters
Height: 2.8 Meters
Ground Clearance: 0.9 Meters
Weight: 38 to 50 Metric Tons
Engine: Maybach HL 120 V-12 300 Horsepowers
Armament: Two 7.92mm MG-34 Machine Guns

The builder of the model below is unknown to me. It shows how the final production version could have looked.

Default "t" too many

If only the title of the thread could be re-written, as "Minenraeumer" does mean "mine clearer", however "Minentraeumer" means "mine dreamer" and causes an undue chuckle.
