I can not find any references to the use in Stugs; the original tactical use of the Stug was as a close infantry cooperation vehicle controlled from a Sd.Kfz 253 so it would not have required a gyrocompass. Perhaps those Stugs used on the flanks of the "Panzerkeil" during the Kursk offensive were fitted with gyrocompasses but I suspect it was an exception rather than a rule.

Thanks for that information. I've gone through some pics of 3 StuGs I shot last year, and seems correct that they didn't have a Gyrocompass.

looking for a Kar 98k bolt in working condition numbered 2020, please let me know if you have one.

Default Gyro 12v cable

Posted on the communications forum

Hi there everyone
Here's another question
I'm wondering how long the 12v power cable (for the illumination of the Gyro)) would need to be, to be able to reach the nearest socket ?.
The picture at the top of this page .. the cable is maybe 12" long .. there isn't a socket that close in the Tiger
There are a couple on the instrument panel, I think there's one on the underside of the hull roof .. probably a meter away though !.
So the question(s) is / are , how long does it need to be for use in the Tiger ?, and is there a hidden socket somewhere closer ?.
Happy Sunday to you all, best regards .. Ian
