Default Pickelhaube 1914, is it authentic?

Hello,

I've found this Pickelhaube in an online auction and was wondering before/if I bid on it, is it original?

I have close to no experience with Pickelhauben so any additional information would be great! My personal thought is that it's perhaps Landwehr?

If it turns out to be authentic (I have my doubts), what would be a wise price to pay?

I leave the judging for you gentlemen.
Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Daniel

wrong cockade (Prussian, not Wuerttemberg) plus position of the cockade is the wrong way around (left should be right), also the Reichscockade is for EM, the Prussian one for an officer.

reserve cross should be placed on Wuerttemberg wappen (so higher up).

open crown - more often used for officers. This and the liner used make me wonder if it is a private purchase Pickel although the stamp in the helmet seems to indicate otherwise.

I expect this helmet to have been rebuild.

IMO only interesting if it can be bought cheap - max 350 euro all in.

Cockades are an easy fix....most dealers would have a ticket of €650 on that.

Thanks for the comments!

So it's an original in your eyes but has been messed with?
Is the cross a reserve or a Landwehr cross?

What I understood is that this is a "doctored" Pickelhaube, has wrong cockades and it's quite possible the liner has been changed if it doesn't match with the stamp, or?

Your comments have been very helpful! I'm balancing now between the options of "fixing" it that it matches what it should be or that if I should leave it and wait for an "unmessed" one.

Best regards,
Daniel

Yes but original cockades other than Prussian are not that easy to find and pricey (80-120 euro a piece). 650 dealer's price - yes quite possible but that would be way overpriced and they would end up not selling it. This is more of an ebay item and on ebay 350-400 would be attainable - IMO not much more. Only interesting on the cheap.

Thanks, I've made my decision. I won't be bidding on it even if it would be cheap
