Default Two Pickelhaubes

Hello, I have these two Pickelhaubes that I recently added to my collection. I am a WWII collector that's beginning to collect WW1 items. One is in rough shape while the other is quite nice but has some missing pieces.

The plate seems to have some soldering done and a piece has broken off.

Thank you! They certainly show their age but if they are are original I'm happy!

The Prussian M15 has been refurbished during the period and that may account for the mismatch on the Wappen size. It seems to have repaired holes on the front. I can't read the original unit ink mark, but the other side indicates that it was worked on by the B.J.A.XVIII, which was the Bekleidungs-Jnstandsetzungs-Amt (Clothing repair office) of the 18th army corps (Prussian Kurhessen). The "f" indicates that they approved it for field use.

The Garde officer's helmet is missing the Garde star from the Wappen. This is a wartime made model, as indicated by the zinc fittings that have lost their gilt finish (a common occurrence on these wartime helmets). The inside looks fine.

Thank you Chip for all the information! I can't make out what the unit markings are, they seem to have been marked over.

You won't find any on an Officer's private purchase (i.e. non -issued) helmet. Nice helmet in any case but if it were mine, I'd be looking at some kind restoration.
