Here? Me? Noooooo Ich bin ein kampfer fur friede!
I simply find that the argument is a bit vacuous, given the fact we have lived through??????? Well "repro" FJ Westen for one.
To tell the truth, I would really be interested to see if someone COULD convert some of the questionable TR blusen out there into early NVA. Hmmmmm?
I now I have thought of dyeing a cheap LW fliegerbluse and turning it in to an early VoPo for a history event!

No need to apologize for your beliefs. Suum cuique. Jedem das Seine.
If you haven't already done so, you might find it interesting and informative to saunter over to the Living History and Collector Community Forums and peruse through the archives there sometimes; it might help you to develop a more nuanced perspective on this kind of topics... or not

The early DVP-uniform in post 788 was rebuilt from a 70s Freiwillige Feuerwehr uniform.

With mild temps in the 60's all day til around 18:00 I couldn't resist the urge to do some shots as a VoPo, I drove to my cousin's place some miles away (He lives in the Federal Housing and that dull gray/white brick they use for those got me thinking..I think I'll try a At The Wall feel with it..Well it came out but not as clear as I'd wished because he don't know all the tricks of my camera, I gave him a crash course in it but he still didn't learn them all, Anyway here is the pics, I stood at Achtung :
For a vintage feel:
Also since I shaved off my full beard my face was on fire all day and the cool breeze stung it , We hope to do some arrest reenactments soon but don't know when.
This also brings up a question, What exactly did our troops do in East Germany? My old army pal saw me in the uniform and was over joyed (he loves German things from both sides and had been to both sides too ) Him and a Grepo once smuggled out some sliver to the West..OOps..That wasn't meant to be known..

Looks very convincing. shame we can't make out the details of your uniform. Looks like you put a fair ammount of work into it.

I do but it looks ****ty ..Here it is before I edited it:
I edited it in PhotoImpact 4.2 afterwards to make it look much better than it was before.
I had planed to reenact some arrests too and have my PPK BUT that tends to cause trouble so I left it at home.
The funniest thing happened on the way back home, As I was entering town I went by the speedtrap and even though it was dark by then the area is well lit by gobs of streetlights so the officer could see in my car, He shot out quick and followed me like he was gonna stop me but didn't..When I got home turned on my police scanner I listened to the chatter (would have recorded it but my camera's battery was dead DX)
Officer: Central DQ 9.
Dispatch: Go head DQ9.
Officer: I just saw someone go by in a peculiar uniform, It looks like army but its the wrong green..More blue-green then army green and it has some patch on the left shoulder with what looks to be a police emblem. I followed the subject but didn't make a stop. Just jot that down for reference.
Dispatch: 10-4 DQ9.

That's an interesting question, this is an international forum so you may have to be more specific as to "our troops". US soliders stationed in Berlin or visiting from West Germany had free access to East Berlin. I visited East Berlin a number of times while stationed in the Berlin Brigade and never had a negative experience with the VOPO.

Well then maybe my army pal was just visiting or passing through East Berlin since his duties was not clandestine to speak..I also talked a long time ago with a friend who was in military intelligence during the ColdWar and was in Vietnam first then West Germany..He had a different story though, He wasn't allowed within 20 miles of East Germany due to the nature of his work, Not that the D.D.R. cared but U.S. military forbid him to go into that land.

Genosse, When you are undertaking foot drill your hands are held as lightly held fists.

Nice, Was the VolksPolizei star badges also used on these or just for the mountain hats?
