Default Finish on Bronze/Gold CCC

Hi all

I have been thinking about the finish on bronze/gold CCC.

In Toms latest great CCC book on page 389 I can read that 14000 existing gold CCC should be refinished to silver in 43/44.

Thatīs not logic IMO

I think that itīs more logic to refinish a gold clasp to bronze.

We have all seen a lot of ground dug bronze clasp looking like gold after cleaning.

I think that it was a lot of gold clasp that was refinish to bronze and thatīs why they looks like gold after they were find as ground dug, the first layer of bronze have gone and the first gold finish are left.

Well itīs just my thoughts so you all are welcome to come with inputs

Andy

Good topic,
I had the idea of comparing when possible to known gold or bronze examples from other awards from the same manufacturer and time period as a trustworthy gauge for determining what colour it actually is

Kind regards Chay

Hello Andy,
Just a thought, maybe there were more than enough bronze examples produced, but a shortage of silver for the awards required.
Ralph.
