Default M42 Original Paint and Decal?

Hello, Thanks for any help in advance on this M42.
I am going to sell it on the WAF , so before I did that I wanted to make sure first the paint and decal are original.
Thanks for any input.

Hello , thanks for your reply.
By "What is the lotnrof this helmet ?" do you mean the lot or manufacture #?
It is very hard to tell, but perhaps 4391 ?
Thank you

Hi, Not that I can see and thanks for your input.
So in your opinion is this a war time refurbish since it has the Ed Strache reissue decal ?
Thanks

Not sure from these pics. Does not appear to be typical reissue paint. I'm not a fan so far.

Hello, Thanks for your POV. If the decal is original , how can the paint not be?
I admit that the finer details of helmet collecting is not my forte, so I am just curious . Thanks a lot.

We see the ES decal mostly on M35 and transitional helmets. I am less a fan on them on M42 or M40.

With the lot number unreadable it cannot help us to place the decal in the no decal zone.

Agreed. I can't remember seeing an ES on a M 42

Thanks.
I did get it direct from a Vets family that he brought back from the war along with a Puma fighting knife and a few other items and I got it for practically nothing, so I do not know when, where or how an original decal would have gotten on it if not during the war and a refurbish.

Well it's "heritage" is true. I always say never buy the story, but the item, but sometimes the stories are true.
Still no one has answered my question on the decal. IMO the helmet is legit, the paint and decal all legit.
Others are free to feel how ever they like. Thanks

As others mentioned, ES on m35 or early m40 common, m42 not. I would always pass a helmet like this. As long as it makes you happy, it is oke right?

My feeling is that the paint is wartime, what makes it look strange is the flaking with rust underneath it.
Not a top shelf helmet by any means but not postwar created either IMO.
Just my 2 cents,
Eric
