Default Dak km ?

A friend of mine has this helmet and he would like to sell it. Iíve taken a look at it and the paint and decal look ok. The decal is KM and the two part construction is visible. The paint looks like either a DAK or Mediterranean overpaint. I would welcome opinions on this helmet and how much would you expect to pay for something like this ? Thanks guys.

In my opinion the helmet is real
Too bad the decal was dug out and you can see they were digging on the other side of
the helmet looking for the NC decal.

Really hurts the helmet from a collector stand point.

Too bad because that is a rare helmet, tropical paint with a KM decal.

Looks like a nice honest helmet looks like someone had a look for a tricolour, the liner looks like it has been oiled. KM camos are very scarce . Would like to hold it to have a good look at the pins and decal . Nice . Rob

Agree with the guys below. Looks legit. Too bad they dug and oiled that is a huge turnoff for me no matter the helmet but many will fall in love with this rare helmet.

Thanks guys. Would anyone want to stick their neck out and put a value on this ? I certainly canít afford to put another helmet in my collection right now and he doesnít want to undersell it.

$2,500 considering the digs and oiling. A KM collector may pay more possibly. I would definitely have to handle personally first.

And this is why I hate giving values publicly...
It will always be a messed with helmet with its oiling and dug decals.
BUT...try finding another KM DAK lid. Far, far rarer than an SS for sure.

That is always it , messed with I leave it no matter how rare the combo.
It would always bother me.
Too bad the previous owner did not take care of it.

Iíll let him know, thanks for all the input. He tells me he was offered £2000 ( British pounds ) for it when he visited a show in February. I said he should have snapped their hand off. Thereís another big show this weekend so weíll see what happens. Thanks again guys.

That is exactly my outlook Frank. Never buy a messed with pot and never buy on price alone. Shame this original helmet has been altered but someone will enjoy it because of its rare combination. In saying that he should have taken the two thousand quid offer and bolted home in my opinion! Regards, Bill

Certainly looks like who ever dug it out did it a very long time ago.

I may be not wrong thinking the vet did it for whatever reason .
