Thanks for the information about the 8th Jager Division, on the door, just above the unit name is a white "V", this is the lower part of the divisional insignia, which is a revolving swastika over a V shaped branch of oak leaves.

I cannot post photographic examples of this insignia although I have some.

So as this is kompanie 1008, would it be correct if the other two companies of the PzJager Abt were 2008 and 3008 ?

Are the Jagdpanzers you mentioned JpzIV's ? approximately what date are you with this data, 1944 or 1945 or both ?

many thanks if you can answer some of the questions.

Nice, i can see the Divisional logo in your new photo!

Only the Kompanie with Panzer's (Stug's or Jagdpanzer's) was given such a large number.
The other Kompanie's had their normal designation and equipment.
I forgot at what date they started doing this numbering.
You see, they just added 1000 to the original Abteilung number. So 8 Abt. had a 1008 Kp.
The same go's for other Panzerjäger-Abteilungen with Panzers.

I'm not sure when and how much panzers they had.

No,

I'd say that is a 3, not an 8. It would have a gap at the top if it were an 8. It is 1308 I think.

EDIT. Now I look again at it, it could go either way. That is a crude stencil. Hand made/field made?

Default Doingor Divisional mark

Hi Lett,

Sorry but you are completely wrong wth your identification of the divisional sign, its not Wiking or Norland, its 8 Jager Division.

The original photo I have of this divisional sign, which I cannot post for technical reasons, is of one rear door that exists today with a collector, its from a mEpkw field car and shows the revolving swastika with a pair of oakleaves under it in a "V" design.

Under these oakleaves is N.A.8. which is for the Nachtrichtungs Abteilung 8 of the 8 Jager Division, and under that is the tactical sign for a part motorised Fernsprecht Kompanie.

I make no comment about the identification of the Pz Jag Kp numbers, other than to say such a company number did not exist in either Wiking or Nordland divisions.

cheers lennard

No, its 8.Jäger-Division.
Look up their logo. It looks like Wiking, but without the shield.
Same round swastika.
