Fantastic, it looks to have to the similar amount of wear as mine.

Do you have any opinions on what the "39" is? Is it a date marking?

Does the bag have any markings?

Unfortunately I have no idea regarding the 39 and I cannot find any marking on the pouch. I guess that won't be of any help but it came along with a all 1942 dated gasmask set.

@ Nick: Thanks for taking the time to post your cape. Seeing your cape has given me more confidence that the 39 (or 40 as in your example) is the year of manufacture.
