Default Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

Hello to all ; my little contribution......................

Numbering on the turrets in the 1. Pz Div.

PR 1 was easily recognizable by their white crosses followed by the white figures. The cross behind the turret is perfectly centered in all its vehicles. In this regiment, particularly, its 8. Company had a line under the figures...................

The PR 2 was recognized for having the white figures followed by the white crosses. In the Pz Kw III and IV the figures were smaller than in the PR 1.

Something I've found in the web: here is shown the marking and numbering system, let me point out the white cross and numbers in the turret of PR 1 (1. Pz) and the two number code in the turret of the 5. Pz............

Contrast, before and after.

Armored column of PR 7 in East Prussia before the 1939 campaign; In the foreground a Panzerbefehlswagen I (Sd Kfz 265) and behind a Pz Kw II Ausf. a/b with the typical white cross............................

Same column later/after the campaign; the white cross was erased in the Panzerbefehlwagen I and in the other tanks the cross is notoriously more stylized........................
