Default Plastic US Army EM Visor Hat Insignia

Have been told these were used mid war to conserve war need material.

Yes Ive read that they experimented with collarbrass that was plastic also. Im not sure if the plastic collarbrass was ever issued. It was an attempt to save brass for the war effort. Vince

And only cost $1.35, but a private in WW2 only earned $50 a month, so almost a days pay!

I've been putting together a small collection of Marine Corps ega's for a while now and have found that there were a few of those made in plastic or bakelite during the later war years too. Both cap and collar insignia.
