Hi boys, I came across this badge at a flea market and would love any information about it. Appreciate your input. Thanks

Wrong forum. It should be posted in the Imperial section.

It's the War Decoration of Honor in Iron (Kriegsehrenzeichen in Eisen, 1917), Hessen-Darmstadt, nicknamed Bloody Ludwig (Blutiger Ludwig).

I think it's actually the Krieger-Ehrenzeichen in Eisen.

Default “Bloody Ludwig”

Thanks bolewts. I have a very small collection of Imperial Badges, but had no idea which area to post it in, as I had not seen one before. This was a complete random find, bought it home left it on the coffee table, husband picks it up, sees what he thinks is something stuck on the crown and decided to “clean it” for me
Oh, I went crazy. I told him to look at it through the loop and he would have seen that it was corrosion

Default Imperial - Weimar?

If it’s meant to be in the Imperial Section, why would it have the 25 year commemoration? Wouldn’t this have been given to a veteran of the Weimar?
Just a tad confused. Could you clarify, thanks.

Krieger-Ehrenzeichen translates roughly as Combatant Honor Badge. This is what it is called on
https://www.ehrenzeichen-orden.de. But, I think this is wrong.

It's always been translated as War Honor Badge which would be Kriegsehrenzeichen or Kreigs-Ehrenzeichen.

The 25 refers to Ernst Ludwig's 25 years on the throne of Hessen-Darmstadt (1892-1917)

In official hessian documents (award reglementations) it´s called "KriegERehrenzeichen in Eisen" "H.K.E."
Also on the award document it´s written "KriegERehrenzeichen in Eisen".

The hessian Kriegsehrenzeichen is this Medall: https://www.ehrenzeichen-orden.de/de...onze-1916.html
