Default M43 unit badge?

Can anyone identify the circular unit badge this man is wearing on his M43 cap? I think these men are in Russia. Two have Wolchow sticks, one is wearing heavy fur boots, and one man is wearing a close combat badge. They look like they could be Field Division men from the collar tabs.

Hello,
It's the German air sports association donation pin, airplane single in circle.

Thanks Chris, that's really interesting. I wonder why he would be wearing that on the side of his hat!

This is the Deutscher Luftsportverband (German Air Sports Association) pin from around 1934. The rim seems thinner to me than the rim of the insignia in the photo. Is there another version?

Hello SkaraBrae,

Maybe he was part of it before the war.
