Default German shovel carrier WW I - OK?

Hi-

A friend just picked up this German World War I shovel carrier from a seller who guaranteed it. Can we get opinions on originality? Marked A over T D L. Measures about 6 5/8 by 10 inches, not including strap and belt hangers.

Thanks,

Brian

This would be for a style used by the Austrians and Bulgarians. The standard German Linnemann Entrenching tool is not pointed. This is not made for a German spade. It is original or authentic for what it is, but the seller is misinformed about what he sells.

Thanks Gentlemen-

My friend will be returning it.

And, indeed the stamp is: TDII (not TDL).

Your assistance is most helpful and appreciated.

A very similar carrier (only for a rounded end shovel) was introduced for the German cavalry in 1916. I have heard that the Germans made these for the Bulgarians. They have been available for some years and every one I have seen had German manufacturer marks.
