Default M31 Breadback Tropical « tropen »

Hello there, I am always confused to name this or that "tropical" equipment. It seems that the Wehrmacht used both leather and the web on all theaters of war. Especially when you know that the geographical location of Libya is nothing "tropical". Which could also explain the use of leather and web ...This bread bag is also equipped with its original strap and we immediately notice the use of both materials, leather and web; which would indicate a later fabrication than the desert war. Unfortunately the marking of the bread bag is too fade and there is no trace of marking on the strap so I have no idea of the date of manufacture. From some information I think it is a late manufacture (43/44). I imagine that the use of the web in a hot country (tropen) was more conducive than leather that deteriorates faster. Thanks in advance for your help.

Okay! Since you crossed the Mediterranean Sea, you reached the tropics! It was true at this time!!

Default M31 Tropen breadbag

Hello, i checked many forums and it seems that this type of bread bag was used by the Wehrmacht on all the theaters of war around the Mediterranean Sea (including Black Sea) and that this "mixing materials" configuration was also issued in 1942.
So this set could dated 1942 as well as 43 ... "Tropen" was a generic word to indicate hot countries… They had so many manufacturers at this time that i have a weak chance to identifie this one… never mind in final...

Hi, i just received this nice "tropical" bread bag strap! Obviously, all the iron fittings have a special anti-rust treatment that looks like some "bitumen", not sure for the "bitumen" ... bitumen melt quickly with hot… this is what i can read:
BERNHARD MEYER GRONAU I. HAMN 1942. I can't get any infos from this marking around anyways.. Even if it was probably one of the main maker of the Afrika Korps Equipment!! Thank you for looking!
