Where is Spike when you need him? If he went to a group after doing the Advisory Team thing someone in that community will be in the know. Nice top.

I research UDT/SEALs during VN, I have no knowledge of this kinda stuff.

Looks right as rain for the period. He did time with MACV and then back home and possibly the SFOC course.
Could have gone to 5th group from MACV while still in country.
All SF guys were awarded the ARVN wings, whether we jumped or not.

I saw the changeover from white to green name tags in late 1966. I think some might have been worn for a time by some.
Looks like it has been in a closet and retains remnants of starch that we had to break everyday at Ft Bragg. I had a couple sets hanging in a closet at home for a couple years after I got out that looked like that.

The wear out date for colored insignia in RVN was in October, 69. There was no "long Tab" til about 84 or so, making it hard to say whether he was SF Qualified.

Lots of strap hangers were assigned to group for various reasons.
Lots of Captains returning from VN were forced out of the service. They lacked the required education for further promotion and the army was done with them.
Some had an option to stay at a lower enlisted rank, but few did.

Thank you for the info! So if I understood correctly, in this configuration the uniform would be pre-1966?

Still trying to find info on the owner but nothing yet, google is the only resource I have currently.
