Chris - there are for sure some knowledgeable collectors on this forum who know their flags. You may be asked to post more photos to see closer images of the flag.

Thanks much for posting.

Better pictures are needed, close ups of material, construction, lettering. Is the insignia painted directly on to the red cloth? Has it ever been attached to a staff?

Hi David......I will work on some more photos tomorrow. The flag/banner is hand painted, 3 separate pieces of red cloth sewn together. Sewn by sewing machine, at home, not industrial......It may have been on a pole once, as it has a sleeve on the side for that......minimal exposure to UV, it is in great shape all in all...I have seen lots of hand made flags, banners, gifts, etc coming out of the late 40s to late 50s........will send more pics for review......any special angles or closeups?

Just a general selection should be fine, as stated before, though some close ups of the bottom of the centre panel would be useful aswell, I'm interested in that staining/fading, does it cross over to the 3rd panel.

From some of the pictures it looks as if some areas of the cloth had faded before the panels were stitched together, but saying that it could just be where it has been folded over the years. I find it interesting the way the flag has been constructed in the well made but very much home made style. Someone has put a lot of effort and love into this flag. I would not regard it as an official flag, but rather a unit specific item privately commissioned. There could be a variety of uses, but we will never know for sure.... presentation piece, office display, specific public parade etc.

Going by the insignia I'd have gone with a date of say 1957 ish, definately no later than than 1960.

Be a little careful with storage on this one as painted flags can crack up and flake off depending on the paint used.

Nice Flag
