I'm looking at the rubber ring on mine and where one was possibly on your sample. Always wonder if this an original if unconventional use.
I have an unrelated bottom cap in my image I kept until I got my original with Waffen mark for a match with WC '43 model. Note the post war paint on mine as well. I have since restored most missing parts.
If interested, I can post pictures.

Does anyone have an 1943WC to post?

ObltkG4 I followed your link and the rubber "O" ring on your grenade is not in any way related to the grenade,I wonder if it has been added to reduce the wobble of the threaded connector (if it is loose on the handle) as the connectors can wobble around if the handle has shrunk or it has been fitted with a replacement connector during "restoration".

MG34NZ;
Thanks for your excellent pictures and getting back to me on the O ring. This was a point of contention since acquiring this repainted, yet original WC43. The rubber O ring looks to be added for the reason you point to: threaded connector is lose for repaint/refit to handle. I am going to remove it as it definitely takes from any provenance.
Would you do me a favor if you have a moment to send some picture of base of can and other disassembled of one of your samples.
I am very curious to compare with mine. I would suggest email to me (to avoid this getting in to the hand of the forgers out there).
