Default Luftwaffe Major's Tunic for Opinions...

Hi all.

I'd like to hear from the cloth and uniform experts here on the forum about this Luftwaffe Major's tunic, along with the cuff title, the bullion award, and breast eagle sewn onto the tunic. I will reserve my own opinions until after I've heard from some of the experts.

Thanks!

Dzyner, I'd run away as fast as I can from this mess. Total junk.

Not if you restore/collect Bundesluftwaffe uniforms.

If, however, you prefer to collect original, pre-May 1945 manufactured Luftwaffe uniforms, then the description is both accurate and apt.

The cuff title could be an original enlisted example and the boards could be good Heer types

Thanks for the great feedback everyone, I really appreciate it!

I agree with everything mentioned. For me to tunic itself looks "ok" at a glance, but then the close up shots of the various areas and the fabric gave me pause.

The breast eagle is hideous, and obviously post-war applied. The WW1 EK1 ribbon is also reproduction. The boards, in my opinion, stand a chance of being original, but the pips were likely added.

I don't know enough about the embroidered badge or the cuff title to have an opinion about those in terms of originality so my original post was more to gage opinions on those those separately. Thanks Gene for your feedback regarding the cuff title and boards.

All in all, this is a put together post war tunic with some potentially original parts and pieces, but replica overall.

Believe it or not, this tunic was found tucked away in a veteran's foot locker along with his WW2 uniform. This is a good example of believing the item, not the story (or in this case the circumstances surrounding its uncovering).

The 50's and 60's Bundesluftwaffe tunics are often converted like this...this one isn't of the best kind though, I've seen better attempts. They are a nuisance since they pop up ever so often in the market, and can easily fool novices...
