Hi Gary, i think it is an original badge that looks to me as though it had an integral hinge and catch except as some time happens the catch has broken off and then it has been reattached .Kevin.

Original and interesting badge! The details on the front are very soft. It seems like the die was worn out to the point that the catch had to be removed or something. Definitely looks like it came out of the factory like this.
