Default Help To Identify WW2 M1 Liner Insignia

Hi Everyone. Since I know practically nothing about U.S. M1 helmets can anyone possibly help me to identify this insignia painted on the sides of a U.S. WW2 M1 liner?

Thanks in advance, BDM

Us Air Force Organizational Excellence Award perhaps? No clue why it would be painted on a helmet unless it was an honor guard thing.

The exterior of this helmet probably dates from 1954 thru late 60s...(the USAF Outstanding Unit award was instituted 1.6.54). The Officer's eagle on the front should only be worn by an officer and is the ARMY Gold version (should be USAF Silver color) so maybe "played with", hard to be sure.... looks crude to be a Parade/Honor Guard liner but not impossible...

The interior of the liner, including the sweatband....IS WW2 issue and makes this better than most postwar used liners... original WW 2 sweatbands are in great demand! Don't remember if it has the liner strap. They would never have worn a dolled up liner like this during the war.

Nice liner as is..... but the money is in the sweatband!
