Dont worry about this one. 100% original in my opinion.

That woolen backed cockade seems at least 99% fake to me.

Default cockade

Could we have a clear description of exactly how the cockade is made? It appears to be a normal bevo cockade cut around the black with a lot of heavy black thread stitching it onto the wool backing which is then hand-stitched onto the cap. A very strange item.

So, Peter Kupper was importing cockades from Italy in 1942? This is exciting news.

I didn't say that ...in the last 75 years the cockade or even both badges could have
been hand resewn to the cap !
Same feldgrau thread used for both actually ...

My comment was about the cap and maker mark stamp.
Insignia is original for me to. When applied? Hands-on inspection should tell.

I have been looking for these caps for many, many years but have never seen a wool backed cockade. The base cap looks ok.

Default cut

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at the 12, 1, 5, 6, and 8 clock positions it appears there is dark green thread sticking out as one might expect from a trimmed bevo cockade.
