This question pertains to late war mess tin straps. It is my understanding that a feature encountered with late war examples is that the end of the strap was cut on a diagonal using only one cut. This was an effort to save time during the manufacturing process. Has anyone seen a strap with this feature?

Guys,

Just got a pair of 8 hole, what I thought were mess tin straps.

Tried them on a kit but too short at 54cm.

What I thought was interesting is that they were made in Amsterdam 1942 by firm 'J DE Valk, A'Dam'.

Any thoughts?

Can do you a picture but can't post here.

I have also bought one of those USB microscope things which has taken a very clear picture of the stamp, can recomend it to those with shaky hands or dodgey eyes.

Hi!
What is the right length of the 8-holes strap.
In the book "DIE DEUTSCHE WEHRMACHT UNIFORMIERUNG UND AUSRÜSTUNG - DAS HEER" writhen by A. Schlicht/J.R. Angolia, We can find:
"Kochgeschirriemen: ... war etwa 55 cm lang ..."
And a lot of my collection is really about 55 cm long. But they said, and they existed also longer 8-holes strap - about 58 cm (i've got one from 1937, litle bit longer signed with LBA ) And alot straps longer than 55 we can find, are in chocladebrown and signet by LW. Does anyone have a longer strap in natural-color, or blackend leather?

Here we got one real 55cm strap:

And on the messkit, it goes on the last hole.

Longer strap, on the messkit:

And on the breedbags:

Sonder
