Default Issued Just In Case.......

Here is a piece of issued equipment that likely was not often used for the intended purpose, and doesn't really invoke much fervor for the smell of battle.

It is the Gas Sheet......

Intended for use to cover one's body in the event of a Gas attack.

Don't believe there was any poisonous gas used by either side in WW2, but a preventative piece of equipment nonetheless.

First a period photo of the equipment in wear.......

Very nice gas cape! These rubberized gas cape pouches are harder to find then the fabrik ones. Nice set!

Best regards

Dirk

Hi Ron,

Thanks so much for starting this thread. The Gasplane is one of my favourite items of equipment so I really enjoyed the period pictures along with your superb early war set.

For anyone interested in see more Gasplane variants have a look at this thread:

Thanks

Ian.

The only time the Germans used Poison gas in WW2 was to flush out partizans who were hiding in tunnel systems. The one and only attempt failed completely and did not lead to any casualties.

Only the Japanese army used poison gas effectively in WW2 against the Chinese.
