Yes, that was what I thought - that the wings were made in the way that it would precisely fit the front of the battleship (the bow). The ones posted earlier seem to be much straighter looking. I think there was also one posted by William Kramer some time back. It seems that different sizes and variants were produced.

I always thought this was mounted at the front of the ship as well, but it's actually mounted on the stern (rear). I posted a pic of the bow to illustrate.

Agreed,always on the stern of Pre WW2 Kriegsmarine Capital ships,the Eagle that started this thread would be found attached to the front of the bridge of a Destroyer.
I'm sure there are pics of a Destroyer sunk at Narvik with the Reichs Adler in that very position...

The Graf Spee was already at see when War was declared hence the reason the Eagle was still attached to the stern of the ship,had she been in her home port it would have been removed for both Political and Military reasons....
