The problem with Heer generals is when was the buckle finished. I have seen matte gold in different shades and shiny plated buckles. I would really want to look the buckle over with a loop and do a Acetone test.

I know that in the seventies, so about 45 years ago, various mint army officer's buckles were gilded according to various methods at Lüdenscheid by some concerns.
If the material is correct, it is easy to have it done without getting suspicious! An aceton test won't help!
Not only Heer buckles were then gilded, but also others like RAD, DRK or whatever!

I believe we had the same discussion on War Relics about a gold DRK officers. If those were guilted In the 70’s they must have done very few of them. You seldom ever see one. Not sure what the ratio of Heer Generals to Luftwaffe Generals was but I seldom ever see a Luftwaffe generals buckle but I see lots of Heer Generals. You have to be suspicious of any General’s buckle.

The posted buckle has the type of gold wash I am more comfortable with. There are those, as stated, that started making their rounds in the '90's that were brightly gilded and, to me, obviously bad.
