Default Unusual LS mark on canister

Good day to all,

a while ago I found this M38 gasmask and canister. On top of the canister is a crude Luftschutz (I think) mark applied. Was this more frequently done? The canister and the straps are both 1944 dated and IMO for military use so why this mark? Did the Luftschutz also use newly produced gas equipment along with civilian and outdated military gear? Thanks.

This is certainly no Luftschutz setup, luftschutz rather got the older GM30 gasmasks (also called S-maske) and a different cannister. This setup is a military one, especially with the anti-gas ointment. The print on top of it rather makes me think of a Luftwaffe eagle.

that stamp is typical LS marking... its very possible that even new equipment was issued to LS - LS was a separate service and could put an order for a supply of new gasmasks as well as any other branch . stamp looks real enough to make me think its a LS can !
nice one !

Thanks for the replies!
The mask doesn't have similar markings, only WaA stamps.
Curious this mark is hand painted though.

Who knows what this mask has been trough in his lifetime, sometimes people did unofficial stuff to their equipment. I have some luftschutz Beutemasken with metal nameplates attached to the top of the cannisters, not very official back then but a nice personal touch and true history.
