Default mk2 steel helmet with aircraft logo on front

just picked this british steel helmet up .its got a aircraft logo on the front and rear BMB liner 39 and shell dated 39

I don't believe the bolt holding the liner in is military issue and the badge doesn't look military either. I'd guess it was issued, probably after the war, at a factory somewhere, either to a worker or perhaops some kind of plant security or civil defence group.

There is nothing wrong with that bolt .ive had several Homefont helmets that are 100% correct .Being in the uk you see this set up a lot .

I stand corrected. I thought that the WWII British helmets had a flat headed screw attaching the liners, but I'm not a helmet collector.

It's the National Aircraft Spotters Club badge. You could buy the transfers privately - plane spotting was massive during the war in Britain, especially for kids and the NASC grew and grew.

Nice helmet....Ive only seen 3 in 30 years....so I guess that makes them a bit rare.
