Period example IMO, probably a silver example. These silver clasps are notoriously difficult to identify (as opposed to bronze) depending on lighting, flash, condition, etc. I could post examples that looked to be bronze and were in fact silver and silvers posted that were actually bronze.

Needs a number of different photos in different lighting conditions to be sure. John

Hm. Despite the close similarity to originals and convincing hardware, I have serious concerns about this clasp with regards to surface texture and, more importantly, the rounded contours of the internal and external margins.

For this to be an original, it would have to have been seriously messed with to create that pitting and those rounded outlines.

Best regards,
—-Norm

I had a feeling you would say something about this clasp. OK, lets do some analysis on it. John

OP, please provide weight and dimensions if you can.

Norm, I see what you are saying, rounded edges, even the back of the swaz is off, plus pitting.

The pin is very convincing, letters, if cast from an original, very nice, close.

John

I won’t have access to my computer until the end of the week and can post some images then, but perhaps others can get started in the meantime.

Best regards,

Dan, are you buying this clasp or are you the owner of it?

From these images I would say original in poor condition. It would be nice to have the weight and measurements like John said.

I have changed my mine based on the pin. I will post comparisons later. I think it is a fake at this point, well cast, but a fake. John

The pin must have been cast from an original as was the rest of the clasp IMO. John
