Default Mike Pruett

I wanted to take a moment to honor the man who started this thread Mike Pruett.

Mike was a father, grandfather, husband and friend to many. During the Vietnam War, he served a year of in country duty with the 1/5 Mechanized "Bobcats" part of the 25th Infantry Division. During this time, he participated in combat operations in both Vietnam and Cambodia.

Mike had an enduring love of military history and both authored and co-authored books on the Panzerwaffe. His and Bob Edwards effort "Field Uniforms of the German Army Panzer Forces in World War 2" is still one of my favorite books and had a profound influence as an insignia collector.

As a collector, Mike was a mentor and always kind enough to answer my never ending questions.

Rest in eternal peace my friend, you are greatly missed!

Default A few additions

Nice Nebel NCO, M44 pattern EM signal, Infantry EM with single row of tress, and a single SS EM Medical. Sorry for the poor quality Pics, bit of a rush to post them. I'm off to work. Enjoy!

Default M44 Heer Infantry shoulderstraps - combat worn.

Hi, an ultra common set of insignia (at least in WW2 !), but this pair had an appeal.

The wear to me suggests they might have 'seen some history' - plus have a combat worn tunic they are crying out to tie up with. Hope you like them!

Regards, Paul

Default MG Btl 2

This strap is an illustration of how the Germans used what was available to serve the expansion of the Heer after Hitler's ascension to power. It was originally for Inf. Rgt. 15 (a Reichsheer existing unti); the numbers were picked out and new ones for MG-Bataillon 2 sewn in.

Thank you, here is the moleskin pair that came with it. Look at the backs and notice that it look like the tailor removed the backs. They had the new embroidery added and backs replaced. One has a stone gray backing and the other field grey.
